Rideau Ferry native Alex McLean was drafted ninth overall to the OHL’s Guelph Storm at the recent priority selection.
McLean called it “the best day of my life,” to be drafted by the Storm.
The forward assessed his own playstyle and what it’ll take to make the jump to major junior hockey.
The 15-year-old has seen his young hockey journey take him far from home already.
After spending 2021-22 with the Ottawa Valley Titans, McLean spent a year in the United States as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite, before returning to Canada to spend his draft eligible season with the U16 Barrie Jr. Colts.
All experiences he says he’s grateful for.
McLean registered 108 points across 43 regular season and playoff games with the Colts last season.
