The provincial government’s introducing legislation this week that will include long-term health care coverage for wildland firefighters for some cancers, heart injuries, and PTSD that are work-related.
Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills David Piccini says the province will continue to look after all first responders.
This puts forest firefighters, who are generally employed on seasonal contracts, on par with municipal firefighters in health care coverage.
