Smiths Falls’ Mayor couldn’t be happier that Carebridge Community’s 34 affordable units have opened up at 44 Chamber Streets in Smiths Falls.
Shawn Pankow say twenty-eight of the units are geared to income, while the others are being rented below market value.
That works out to about 30% of their income, which is life-changing for the residents.
The Mayor says the quality of life for these individuals is only going to improve. He adds that the project is the first significant addition to rent-geared-to-income housing in Smiths Falls in decades.
The Mayor says the Town laid the plans but partners at the county, provincial, and federal government also helped. But the support of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, which donated $500,000 to the project stood out.
He also praised the craftsmanship of Saumure Construction in Smiths Falls and the architect who designed the building to build a beautiful home that will only improve the residents dignity.
