Family and Children’s Services of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville is looking for a lifeline.
The non-profit is facing a budgeting crisis that’s seen their operating funds decrease by nearly $3 million, about 14%, since 2016.
That means they’ve had to cut staff because they can’t reduce their services, a worrying trend for Board President Mike Andrews.
FCSLLG’s staff has been cut from 150 to 110 due to the ever-reducing budget.
It’s become an untenable situation for everyone as when children get to their doors, Executive Director Erin Lee Marcotte says it’s usually a last resort.
They’re asking local governments to advocate to the province for a change in their funding formula.
