Carleton Place’s freecycle weekend is back from May 31 to June 2, presented by the Town’s Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC).
All you do is place items with a “free” sign at the curb in front of your residence on May 31. Please remember to bring unclaimed items back inside or properly discard them by 9 p.m. June 2, as the town is not responsible for removal and disposal of leftover items
The EAC says waste diversion is crucial for fighting climate change and managing landfill capacity. Ontario generated over 15.5 tonnes of non-hazardous waste in 2022, equating to over one tonne per person annually. The province aims to divert 50% of its waste by 2030.
Freecycle weekend helps reduce waste, reuse items, save money, and protect the environment. You might even wind up with something you’ve wanted or needed for a while.
