The provincial government’s changing the requirements to secure a high school diploma for the first time in 25 years.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce says the diploma will carry more weight.
Lecce says this is long overdue.
Among other changes there will be a mandatory financial literacy assessment, home economics is returning, and the province is introducing career coaching to help guidance counsellors with Grade 9 and 10 students.
