Lanark County is launching an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Committee.
They are seeking five residents who represent community groups involved in these issues to help shape local policy and advocate for others.
Some of the ways the IDEA committee will have significant impact:
- providing comments and recommendations on legislation, programs and funding from federal and provincial governments and agencies which affect inclusion, diversity, equity and access issues;
advising council on accessibility and inclusion issues; - encouraging public awareness and education of inclusion, diversity, equity and access issues related to the community;
- soliciting and coordinating the interests and concerns of diverse community members, groups and business and communicate those interests and concerns to Council; reviewing studies, plans and proposals referred by Council and commenting as to their impact
- taking a proactive approach by recommending to Council initiatives, alternative solutions, and plans for inclusion, diversity, equity and access and enhancement of Welcoming Community in Lanark County.
Applications will be received until August 2, 2024, at which point applicants will be contacted for next steps in the selection process.
