A Smiths Falls resident faces multiple charges after vandalizing a local business. It’s a story that gained a lot of attention on social media over the past few days.
Campbell’s Care Tree Service took to social media about having their tires on all their equipment slashed or popped. “Already over 8000 in damages in tires alone. 52 tires punctured. Seats of equipment cut fuel caps removed and tampered with,” wrote owner Simon Campbell.
Lanark County OPP responded to the business on Mazie Street West at 12:30 a.m. on June 12.
A suspect fled but was soon caught by Smiths Falls Police. Lanark OPP then arrested the 26-year-old at the Smiths Falls Police Service.
The individual faces 13 counts of mischief under $5000 and one count of trespassing at night. After a bail hearing, the accused was released with conditions and is set to appear in court later this month.
The company has set up a Go Fund Me page to help recuperate some of the costs of the damage, pegged at $7,000. As of Friday morning it sat at close to $1,600 of the $7,000 goal.
