Anyone taking to the water to cool off with a boat ride should take note of the following story.
The Lanark OPP Marine Unit issued charges and escorted several boaters back to shore over the past several days after discovering they had no life jackets on board. It is required by law to have one life jacket or PFD (personal flotation device) per occupant in the boat.
While wearing life jackets is highly recommended for safety, at the very least, having them on board is mandatory. Along with the charges, the officers issued three other warnings for equipment violations.
The Lanark OPP Marine Unit emphasizes the importance of safety on the water and urges all boaters to comply with the regulations to ensure everyone’s safety.
