For the first time ever, Ontario Blind Golf will hold its Provincial Championship in eastern Ontario.
It goes Aug. 9-11th at Mapleview Golf and Country Club in Perth. Spokesperson Kevin Frost tells myFM that the sport for people of varying visual impairment, is gaining popularity.
Frost, who has been playing for about 8 years, says the group is looking to bring in a diverse group of players.
Frost says he’d love to see new players trying the sport, and the best part is the youth and female blind golf camp is free with all equipment provided. It runs from 9am until 11am, on August 9th.
If you’d like to participate or volunteer, visit www.OntarioBlindGolf.ca or call 613-292-9291.
Frost says they’re incredibly grateful to Mapleview for providing the venue for the tourney, and to the dozens of local sponsors who have made the tournament possible.
He also is thanking their big four sponsors: Blind Golf Canada, S.T.E.P.S, Southwire Canada, and Thomas Cavanagh Construction Ltd.
