Our local health unit is one of the few that have taken the initiative of beginning the merger process voluntarily.
That’s according to board chair Peter McKenna, who recently returned from a conference.
As talks have progressed here, McKenna says they’ve put together a to-do list.
The provincial government’s tried to incentivize health units to voluntarily merge with the promise of funding.
A merger date of January 5th, 2025 has been tentatively set.
