Smiths Falls hired GSP Group in October to create a Centre Street area master plan and it was presented Monday night.
It included a decades-long vision to overhaul an area project manager Raj Mohabeer knows has potential.
Mohabeer stressed the importance of patience and building relationships with investors and business owners to make the plan a reality, adding the town could never afford to fund the required builds on its own.
Mayor Shawn Pankow wondered if now’s the time to consider this.
A public survey closed in January where residents had a chance to weigh in.
The goal’s to create a year-round destination featuring residential and commercial properties and taking full advantage of the waterfront.
Mohabeer said there should be a designated champion of the idea that can oversee the project in the years to come as the investment and vision would stretch multiple council terms.
