
An arrest warrant has been issued for an individual following a disturbance in the Maberly area. The incident occurred at 3:45 p.m. on July 9th on Bennett Lake Road. A person reported being threatened, and a gun was seen.
Officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded and tried to stop a vehicle fleeing the scene. They identified the driver before the vehicle avoided multiple cruisers and a spike belt, then left the area.
The vehicle was found abandoned shortly after. The driver and a passenger had fled on foot. The passenger, Thomas Hale, age 35 of Tay Valley Township, was arrested without incident. He was charged with obstructing a peace officer and released, scheduled to appear in court on August 26, 2024.
An arrest warrant has been issued for William Scharf, age 50 of Drummond-North Elmsley. Charges include flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a vehicle. The OPP believes this was a targeted incident with no risk to public safety.
