Twelve municipalities in Leeds and Grenville have united to donate a total of $296,800 to support the redevelopment of the G. Tackaberry and Family Long-Term Care Home in Athens, ON.
The contribution was officially presented by the mayors of these municipalities ahead of the July Joint Services Committee meeting. Arie Hoogenboom, Mayor of Rideau Lakes and a member of the fundraising committee for the redevelopment project, praised the collective effort and commitment demonstrated by all involved.
“This is a very important project for our area,” said Hoogenboom, who was responsible for presenting the fundraising vision to all municipalities in Leeds and Grenville. “Providing 132 new long-term care beds is a significant investment for the residents of Leeds and Grenville. “I thank the municipal councils for their generosity and support for this very worthwhile
cause.
The funds are earmarked to enhance facilities and services at the long-term care home, reflecting a community-driven initiative to improve healthcare infrastructure for residents in the region.
The municipalities’ donations (listed below) were based on $1 per resident, for three years.
