The Town of Carleton Place is celebrating the achievements of its 12-week FoodCycler Pilot Program, which has garnered significant community participation and positive feedback. Currently, 467 households are actively engaged in the program, diverting an impressive 92.4 metric tonnes of food waste annually and reducing landfill contributions by 18.7 garbage bags per household per year.
Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with 97% expressing their intent to continue using the FoodCycler and 94% recommending it to others. Moreover, 77% of participants reported increased awareness of their food waste habits.
Partnering with Food Cycle Science, the town offers residents two models—the FC-30 for $150 plus HST and the Eco 5 for $255.56 plus HST—through a reduced-rate initiative. Interested residents can visit the FoodCycler page on Carleton Place’s website at www.carletonplace.ca/foodcycler to apply. Units will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, emphasizing the town’s commitment to sustainable waste management practices.
