The Lanark County OPP Detachment is proud to celebrate 50 years of Women in Policing within the OPP.
This week, the Smiths Falls Police Service, Smiths Falls Fire Department, Perth Fire Services, Lanark County Paramedic Service, and Lanark OPP officers began preparing for the annual Lanark County Female First Responders Camp.
This two-day, free camp offers an immersive introduction to firefighting, paramedic services, and law enforcement.
Participants will learn and practice skills like using personal protective equipment, basic first aid, emergency scene control, automobile extrication, aerial ladder operations, and search and rescue.
The camp also highlights rewarding career options in these fields.
Last year, 24 young women aged 15-19 participated, and organizers aim to make the 2024 camp even bigger and better.
