Smiths Falls Police Chief Jodi Empey received the green light from the police board to hire two additional constables.
She says they’ll be important hires to both remain in compliance with the police services act, as well as cut down on the extensive overtime costs.
Board member Jennifer Aunger – Ritchie says this is necessary with growth.
Empey says they’ll be looking for constables with experience to join them.
The 2021-23 SFPS business plan indicated they had 19 constables on staff at the time.
