The Town of Smiths Falls proudly sends their best wishes to hometown heroes Brooke and Brittany Henderson as they journey to Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics. This marks Brooke’s third Olympic quest for gold, following her participation in the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Games.
Brooke and Brittany, raised in Smiths Falls by parents Dave and Darlene, began their golfing careers at the Smiths Falls Golf & Country Club. Brooke’s impressive career started early, winning her first professional event at 14 and becoming the third-youngest LPGA Tour winner at 17. In 2018, she became the first Canadian to win the CP Women’s Open since 1973. Throughout her career, her father has been her coach, and Brittany, a former pro golfer, is her caddy.
Residents are invited to a send-off on Saturday, August 3rd at 1:30 PM as Brooke and Brittany travel through town starting at the Brockville Street/Beckwith bridge and travel through Beckwith Street, Elmsley Street North and Cornelia Street West towards Roger Stevens Drive.
The town also encourages residents to sign a flag at Town Hall or the Community Centre this week, which will be presented to the sisters by Mayor Shawn Pankow and Council members.
