Last week we talked about reportable diseases and symptoms – now we’re covering the role of the Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit plays when it comes to following up with people who have reportable diseases to get more information to protect the public.
Vanessa Gill, Public Health Nurse says they keep a close eye on testing results.
Gill adds that they will want to know where you may have got the disease or infection and where you have been, to see if it was possible that it could be spread to others.
And she wants us to feel that our personal medical information isn’t up for grabs.
There may be cases where the Health Unit has to ask the public to come forward if they have been in a spot where the disease was present. The health unit assures us that the names are never shared during the process.
You can listen to the full interview with Gill and Medical Officer of Health Dr. Linna Li below.
