Rob Rainer is seeking the provincial Liberal nomination for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston.
The Tay Valley Reeve announced his intentions last month and told myFM he’s received wide-ranging support, something the party would need if they hope to flip a long-standing blue riding to red.
In 2022, Progressive Conservative MPP John Jordan secured the seat with 50.2% of the vote while the Liberal candidate, Amanda Pulker-Mok, placed third at 15.2%.
Rainer has been previously active with the Green Party and the NDP, aligning his political stripes with party policies over key issues.
Right now, he believes the Ontario Liberals are saying the right things.
The nomination vote is expected to take place before the Ontario Liberal Party annual meeting in London September 20th.
