The Smiths Falls Police Services Board is excited to announce the appointment of Chris Kettyle as the new Deputy Chief of Police, effective September 3rd, 2024. Kettyle, a Smiths Falls native, recently retired from the OPP, where he served as a Detective Staff Sergeant and Deputy Director in charge of Organized Crime. His impressive career began in 1994 and includes roles in general patrol, Emergency Response, Drug Enforcement, and more.
Kettyle is praised by both Police Services Board Chair Shawn Pankow and Chief Jodi Empey for his leadership, operational experience, and deep understanding of the community. He is set to be sworn in on September 9th, 2024.
Kettyle expressed his honor in taking on the role and looks forward to working with the dedicated team at Smiths Falls Police Service. The town has been without a Deputy Chief since January 2024, following Chief Mark MacGillivray’s retirement.
