Over 200 years the current location of the Kenney Farm in Battersea remains stronger than ever.
Today Owner Shannon Kenney and Operations Manager Richard Stonier, operate the 100 acre beef farm located on Lower Round Lake Road in Battersea Ontario and have turned the farm into a successful business.
Stonier says day in and day out meat orders are constantly coming in and deliveries are made on a regular basis.
They sell to customers in and around Westport, Kingston, Gananoque, Napanee and Bellevile.
Stonier says it’s an early start to each day but the hard work is paying off and has been very rewarding.
He adds that thanks to social media, their website and word of mouth, have helped them gain popularity and has helped business tremendously.
Beef farming does have it’s challenges much like other operations. He says the lack of abattoirs have slowed production of beef products and bookings need to be done a year in advance at times.
Stonier says one of their most rewarding experiences, was helping a young person at a local competition with a calf from their farm, which resulted in second and third place ribbons in their categories.
