Rideau Lakes council kicked around the idea earlier this month of implementing a bylaw that would limit the use of firearms on properties that are 2 acres or less.
The idea was proposed by a Lombardy resident who claims their neighbour uses their backyard for target practice several times per week, and claims safety practices are “non-existent.”
Councillor Ron Pollard said this would become a hot button issue if explored.
One of the flaws for a potential bylaw like that would be policing it, said Mayor Arie Hoogenboom.
Council voted unanimously not to move ahead with exploring the idea.
