The Smiths Falls Police Service is gearing up for “Operation Impact 2024,” a national safety campaign running from October 11 to 14. Officers will focus on risky driving behaviours that endanger everyone, including impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and failing to wear seat belts.
They got an early start by holding a seatbelt blitz this past weekend.
The campaign’s message is clear: “Safety is in MY hands!” Smiths Falls Police want to remind drivers that choices behind the wheel impact not just themselves, but passengers, pedestrians, and other road users.
With the slogan “Play it SAFE: Seatbelts Are For Everyone,” the goal is to highlight how simple actions like buckling up can save lives. Operation Impact is part of a broader effort to prevent traffic injuries and fatalities by promoting safer driving habits.
Smiths Falls Police encourage motorists to drive sober, buckle up, and stay focused as officers work to ensure a safe Thanksgiving weekend for all.
