It’s a crime that has shocked the Perth community and beyond. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 16-year-old with second-degree murder following the death of a local teen.
Officers from the Lanark County OPP were called to the area of North Street North and Sherbrooke Street East just before 3 p.m. on Friday, October 25. Police found one person dead and arrested another at a nearby home.
The victim has been identified as 15-year-old Reese Stanzel of Perth.
The accused remains in custody, with a virtual bail hearing set for Saturday, October 26, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the name of the accused cannot be released, and sharing it publicly could lead to criminal charges.
