2024 has seen the most calls for Intimate Partner Violence in Smiths Falls in the history of the town.
Smiths Falls Police Services Chief Jodi Empey provided the grim statistic.
Empey said they have a a dedicated sargeant that oversees all IPV cases and working these files thoroughly is their standard.
SFPS investigated 212 cases of intimate partner violence in 2023, which was the previous record, and a large jump from 170 calls for service in 2022.
