Rideau Lakes Council has officially adopted a new Community Vision for Lombardy, setting the stage for future growth and development.
The vision, approved on Dec. 2, reflects input from residents, businesses, and visitors gathered through workshops and surveys. It will guide key municipal plans, including the Community Improvement Plan for Villages, which offers grants for private property upgrades.
The process was led by consultant Jordan Hawn and the Rideau Lakes Visioning Steering Committee, with help from the Lombardy Agricultural Society and local volunteers. Outreach efforts included community meetings, posters, and mail campaigns to engage South Elmsley residents.
Mayor Arie Hoogenboom praised the project, saying it highlights community priorities and provides a roadmap for the future.
The new vision is part of broader efforts to revitalize Rideau Lakes’ villages, including Chaffeys Lock, Delta, and Portland.
