A new off-leash dog park is officially coming to Darou Farm after the community successfully raised $30,000 to match town funding.
The initiative began when Perth Council approved the project in June 2023 but required residents to contribute half of the total $60,000 budget before moving forward. After months of fundraising, the goal has been met, allowing the park to proceed as planned.
Town staff will now finalize the park’s design, expand the parking lot, and install an accessible pathway leading to the entrance. A request for quotes will be issued to secure fencing materials, while additional features such as waste stations, signage, and a water tank will be procured.
One of the dog park organizers, Tracey Lettner was very happy with the Town’s decision.
Sponsorship opportunities will also be introduced to fund shaded seating areas and other amenities.
Tania Cadeau, another driver for the project said it was done for all of the community, not just those involved in fundraising
The project remains on schedule, with staff set to present a detailed design proposal to Council in the coming months.
