Beloved Perth Lions Garlic Festival cancelled after 25 years
After 25 years of celebrating all things garlic, the Perth Lions Garlic Festival is coming to an end.
The Perth Lions Club announced that it is cancelling the annual event, saying it is no longer feasible to continue.
The decision was made during a recent club meeting after much discussion. Organizers say it was difficult to end such a long-standing tradition but felt it was necessary.
The festival had been a popular summer event, drawing crowds from across the myFM listening area and beyond to enjoy garlic-inspired food, local vendors, and entertainment.
Elizabeth Snell of Snell House Foods in Orleans was a regular with her popular products. She shared her thoughts with myFM at last year’s festival.
Music was also a big part of the festival and food demonstrations. There was plenty to see and taste over the course of the two day event.
The club thanked everyone who has supported the festival over the years, helping to make it a success. The Lions Club continues to focus on other community initiatives.
For those who loved the festival, this marks the end of an era in Perth’s summer calendar.
