The Town of Perth says they’re deeply disappointed by Algonquin College’s decision to close its Perth campus, approved unanimously by its Board of Governors Monday.
Deputy Mayor Ed McPherson and CAO Michael Touw attended the Ottawa meeting, advocating for the campus, which has served the community for over 50 years.
Algonquin cited financial pressures as the reason for the closure, with a projected deficit of $60 million within two years.
The town hopes the province will step in but is exploring ways to repurpose the facility to benefit the community.
