The official Township headshot of former Rideau Lakes Councillor Joan Delaney - rideaulakes.ca
Clashing personalities and a lack of decorum are some of the reasons Joan Delaney resigned midway through her second term as a Rideau Lakes councillor.
Delaney announced her resignation last week following another tension-filled council meeting which saw 11 integrity commissioner reports, a vote of no confidence against Mayor Arie Hoogenboom, and continued in-fighting.
She was frequently on the wrong side of the 5 to 4 votes which have defined this council’s term, something she told myFM was frustrating.
She said her second term has seen a complete 180 on how the Township is perceived from her time on council from 2018-22.
Delaney said what the public sees during the open sessions is tamer than when the cameras aren’t on.
A by-election will be held to fill Delaney’s seat. You can hear our full interview below.
