At their latest committee meeting, Carleton Place council gave approval to develop a costed plan to replace the Town’s aging indoor pool with a brand new multipurpose facility at the Neelin Street Arena. Property and Project Manager Ross Rankin outlined the proposal and reasons behind it.
Deputy Mayor Andrew Tennant noted that while this was the first step in the process, the idea of expanding recreational facilities was not new.
Tennant said the proposal represented something good about the Town’s growth.
The current 40 year-old pool needs $6 million in repairs, and funds already approved in the 2025 budget would be used to complete a draft plan on its replacement including a gym and indoor walking track for council’s consideration.
