The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 32-year-old Smiths Falls man with impaired driving after a single-vehicle collision on Martin Street North in Mississippi Mills at around 4:30 a.m. on March 8, 2025. The crash caused significant damage to a hydro pole and a fence.
Thomas Moffatt was arrested at the scene and transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Testing conducted at the hospital led to the charges. Moffatt has been charged with operation while impaired (blood alcohol concentration 80 plus), operation while impaired (alcohol), and dangerous operation.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on April 7, 2025. Moffatt’s driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
