A Flood Outlook Statement has been issued for the region, warning of possible localized flooding due to rising temperatures and rain this weekend.
Daily highs between 12-18°C are expected, with up to 20 mm of rainfall on Sunday. Snowmelt and rain may lead to increased water levels in rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas. Smaller waterways like the Carp and Indian Rivers are at higher risk of flooding, while larger rivers may see fast-moving water and ice instability.
Residents in flood-prone areas should monitor conditions and take precautions such as checking sump pumps, securing loose items, and preparing emergency plans. Parents are urged to keep children away from water.
This advisory is in effect until March 17 at noon. Updates are available at www.mvc.on.ca/water-levels.
