Volunteers at the Elgin Outdoor Rink can now keep the ice clear thanks to a $3,000 donation from Northland Power.
The company, which operates a generating station near Crosby, stepped in to help when volunteers needed a new snowblower. Deputy Mayor Paula Banks praised the donation, calling Northland a vital part of the community.
“This generous support ensures that families of all ages can continue enjoying outdoor recreation,” Banks said.
Northland representatives Jacob Ware and Cory Sauve presented the cheque to Councillor Linda Carr this week. The Township of Rideau Lakes expressed gratitude for the contribution, highlighting the importance of business support in keeping local initiatives running.
The Elgin Outdoor Rink is a popular winter spot, offering free skating opportunities throughout the season. Volunteers maintain the ice, ensuring safe and accessible conditions for residents.
The new snowblower is expected to be in use immediately.
