The existing remote mower (pictured) has been riddled with issues
Lanark County’s purchasing a new remote mower after determining the existing one is too expensive to repair.
Director of Public Works Terry McCann said they’ve had a host of issues with the mower, which impacted their ability to get rid of invasive species.
McCann responded to a question from Perth Mayor Judy Brown, who asked if the new mower could be more environmentally friendly instead of running on diesel gas.
McCann said it would cost $30,000 to repair when the mower was scheduled to be replaced next year anyways. The cost of a new one is $120,000 but through various budget surpluses, the net additional expense is $11,309.
