An energetic crowd of roughly 200 packed the Carleton Place town hall auditorium to hear from Lanark Frontenac candidates for the upcoming federal election.
myFM’s Brian Perkin moderated the event delivering 16 questions to Conservative Scott Reid, Liberal Michelle Foxton and NDP Danielle Rae in a non-debate format.
Candidates fielded questions ranging from how they would promote Canadian values and unity to what their party would do with the prime minister’s residence at 24 Sussex Drive.
Reid received a cool response when he reiterated his Conservative party’s plans to defund the English language side of the CBC.
Foxton provided some detail on how her leader, Mark Carney would handle the effects of Trump’s tariffs.
Rae ended the evening on a lighter note when she provided her solution on what to do with 24 Sussex Drive, the final question of the night.
The evening was co-hosted by the Carleton Place and District and Perth and District Chambers of Commerce.
