A serious crash near Elgin has left two drivers with life-threatening injuries and led to drug and weapon charges for a passenger.
Leeds OPP responded around noon on May 2 to a head-on collision on Highway 15 involving two vehicles—one carrying two adults and the other with two adults and an infant. Both drivers were taken to a regional trauma centre in critical but stable condition. The infant and two other adult passengers were not seriously hurt.
During the investigation, a passenger from one vehicle refused to identify himself. Officers allegedly found a knife, suspected cocaine, and drug-related items in the vehicle.
Evan Sarazin, 39, of Ottawa, is charged with obstructing a peace officer, assault, and drug trafficking. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Brockville court on June 13.
The OPP say more driving-related charges may follow. Anyone with dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
