The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville has approved tentative plans to renovate the current Maple View Lodge facility.
Once a new nursing home is built, the old building will be transformed into a multi-use space with housing and a child-care centre.
Phase 1 includes 51 child-care spaces and 18 affordable dormitory-style units for employees of the new facility.
Phase 2 will offer 54 independent living units, with a mix of affordable and market-priced options.
Rent for bachelor units will start at $593 per month, while one-bedroom units will range from $1,227 to $1,655.
The $24.3 million project aims to meet the demand for housing and child-care spaces in the region.
Thirty percent of the units will be affordable to secure financing from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).
The project is still in early stages, with architectural drawings expected to cost up to $500,000.
