Notre Dame Catholic High School in Carleton Place held another successful Teen Expo, connecting a variety of community organizations and groups with students aged 12 to 18. Expo lead Sarah Cavanagh tells us who was involved.
Grade 7-12 students visited the displays at the school’s atrium throughout the day as well as participated in panel discussions on adulting 101, self-care, preparing a job resume, and learning personal adult level budgeting. Sarah was pleased with the strong showing from community groups.
Sarah started the Expo as a Learning Expo for younger children under 7, 12 years ago and it evolved to answer teens’ needs as the Teen Expo in 2017.
She was pleased that her fellow members of Carleton Place Council, Linda Seccaspina, Deputy Mayor Andrew Tennant and Mayor Toby Randell were able to attend and take part in the panel discussions and was extremely pleased with the event.
She noted the Expo really did fulfill its goal of providing a networking opportunity for youth, educators and local resources.
