The Ontario government is investing $28,724 in Rideau Lakes to improve local emergency preparedness.
The funding, part of the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant, will help the township purchase a standby generator for its fire hall, which serves as the municipality’s emergency operations centre.
Steve Clark, MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, announced the funding during Emergency Preparedness Week, last week.
He emphasized that the grant supports local training, equipment purchases, and infrastructure improvements to better prepare communities for emergencies.
The investment is one of 114 grants being distributed across Ontario this year to enhance emergency response capabilities.
Additionally, the Ontario government is building a new Emergency Preparedness and Response Headquarters to support disaster response efforts.
The grant is part of Ontario’s ongoing commitment to ensure communities have the resources needed to respond effectively in times of crisis.
