At their recent committee meeting, Carleton Place councillors received a consultant’s presentation on a public transit system for the Town.
Options such as fixed routes, on-demand service, transit to Ottawa, and others were laid out.
The consulting firm, Parsons, has already completed online surveys with residents, bringing over 860 responses.
Preliminary cost estimates ranged from $250,000 to $500,000.
Deputy Mayor Andrew Tennant was clear on who he didn’t want to see paying the bill.
The consultants plan on bringing a final proposal to council later this fall and Councillor Sarah Cavanagh wanted to include current providers in ongoing discussions.
There will be a public information session on June 11th at the arena upper hall starting at 6:30 pm to gather more feedback.
