
At a special committee meeting on May 20th, Carleton Place council gave final approval to proceed with major upgrades and expansions of the Town’s water and waste-water treatment plants.

Work is expected to begin this year.
The Provinces new legislation on development charges or DCs will allow developers to defer the payment of those charges until the homes are ready for occupancy, rather than the current arrangement which sees them due when building permits are issued.
The lowest bid on the work was $133M including inspections.

These projects represent the largest infrastructure contracts in the Town’s history.
