The latest hiring in the QMJHL has some local flavour to it.
Jason Clarke was named head coach of the Cape Breton Eagles Thursday, becoming the club’s 11th in franchise history.
Clarke was owner, general manager, and head coach of the CCHL’s Carleton Place Canadians from 2009-2021, winning four consecutive Bogart Cups between 2014-2017 and the Fred Page Cup three times.
The Carleton Place native most recently spent time as assistant coach of the San Diego Gulls in the American Hockey League, the affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, from 2022-2024.
Clarke signed a three-year contract with the Eagles.
