The Town of Perth is letting residents know about a slight delay in the BMO alleyway upgrade project.
The work, originally set to begin last week, is expected to start Monday following an ongoing labour dispute on the contractor’s side.
If the strike is not resolved, the contractor has confirmed to the town they’ve got plans in place to begin Monday, June 16 no matter what.
The alleyway beside the BMO and the Wilson Street parking lot will be closed for about three weeks.
During this time, crews will remove the old asphalt and replace it with new interlock stone, similar to the upgraded alley beside the Perth Museum.
The project is part of ongoing efforts to make downtown Perth more attractive and pedestrian-friendly.
Drivers and pedestrians are asked to plan ahead and avoid the area during construction.
Town officials thank everyone for their patience and say the final result will be a big improvement for the community.
Updates will be shared through the town’s website and social media channels.
