Rideau Lakes council hopes to spearhead a broad discussion about strong mayor powers at the upcoming AMO conference with other municipalities.
They’ll be sending a letter to AMO President, and Mayor of Westport, Robin Jones hoping to secure a meeting room where they can discuss the creation of a coalition against strong mayor powers with like-minded municipalities.
With the legislation in place, Councillor Deborah Hutchings says their role is effectively pointless.
