Nate Vandermeer learned the value of hard work growing up on a farm in Leeds County. Taught by his father Gary, he says those early lessons still guide him today—both in school and in his career as a news reporter. Vandermeer says he’s thankful for everything the farm life taught him.
He also shared his thoughts on new technology in farming. Vandermeer says tools like cellphones and drones are helping farmers grow crops more efficiently. While he admits it can be hard for some older farmers to adjust, he believes things will balance out over time.
