
The Small Business Advisory Centre’s Summer Company, is paying off for for Co-op student Mekayla Valcin, who has launched a French Tutoring business, “Bloom Tutoring,” based at the Perth Library.
Valcin says the program has expanded her knowledge of the business world.
She also says that she knew right away what type of venture she would like to take on.
Summer Company provides hands-on business training and mentoring in addition to awards of up to $3,000, to help enterprising students start-up and run their own summer businesses. The Advisory Centre’s Cindy James says its popularity is showing no signs of slowing down.
Through the program, students gain insight into entrepreneurship and develop practical skills in marketing, finance, sales, and customer service, along with attitudes essential for success in any career.
