
A 56-year-old man from Lanark Highlands is facing several serious charges following a weapons incident in Lanark Village.
Lanark County OPP responded to a complaint just after 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025, about a man allegedly making threats and pointing a firearm. The suspect fled before officers arrived but was located and arrested nearby.
Following the investigation, Mark Porter has been charged with pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine).
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, July 7.
Lanark County OPP remind the public that threats and illegal weapons will be met with swift police action to protect community safety. Anyone with concerns is encouraged to report suspicious activity.
