A routine proactive patrol has led to several charges against a 17-year-old Smiths Falls youth.
On August 6, 2025, a Smiths Falls Police officer observed the youth on a sidewalk attempting to hide a large bladed weapon in their waistband.
The officer arrested the individual without further incident.
Following an investigation, the youth was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, theft under $5,000, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a prohibited device.
The accused was later released with conditions and given a scheduled court date.
Smiths Falls Police say proactive patrols are an important tool in keeping weapons off the streets and maintaining public safety.
